Perth Region NRM was awarded the best overall exhibit at the 2013 Karragullen Horticultural Expo.
Perth Region NRM was awarded the best overall exhibit at the 2013 Karragullen Horticultural Expo. The exhibit comprised of a 132 year old “Sulky†adorned with luscious displays of locally produced fruit, native plants and surrounded by rustic art. The display created a link between the importance of local produce to the local economy and the overall theme of the expo being the acknowledgement the 30 anniversary of the expo and the history of the region. The display drew people into the large Marquee where Perth Region NRM staff and other exhibitors including, Domus Nursery, WA Horse Council and Living Farm promoted Sustainable Agricultural practices and Natural Resource Management.
The annual event is organised and run by the Hills Orchard Improvement Group. The Expo started out 29 years ago as a predominantly horticulture machinery field day but now caters for a wide range of interests, attracting thousands of visitors each year.
The Rustic Art competition drew much attention and we congratulate our winner Shane Keep from Lancelin who produced the winning entry. Shane is now the happy owner of an iPad mini for his winning entry. Well done and thankyou to all of our entrants for 2013.
The display would not have been possible without a number of valued contributors including; Guimelli and Sons, Citrus Park Orchard, Domus Nursery, WA Horse Council and Living Farm. Perth Region NRM also wish to thank the Hills Orchard Improvement Group for all their support and congratulates the team of volunteers on the success of the 2013 Karragullen Expo.
